We're proud of our heritage, which dates back to the mid-1990's when we were known as North Central Healthcare Specialists of North Central Indiana, LLC (Healthcare Specialists). We've grown rapidly, bringing together unique opportunities for physicians and facilitating an exceptional level of patient care... all for one purpose... you.
June 1999: Groundbreaking ceremony for the Unity medical complex in Lafayette.
Healthcare Specialists was formed by thirteen local physicians who wanted to retain professional autonomy and medical decision-making, and achieve the benefits and efficiencies of a fully integrated practice.
With more than 40 physicians, including primary care physicians and specialists, Healthcare Specialists of North Central Indiana, LLC began developing centralized services such as billing, payroll, practice management information systems, group benefits and other administrative services.
Groundbreaking was held for a medical complex located on Creasy Lane in Lafayette. The complex was to be the new home for the Ortho/Surgical and Imaging Center facilities.
A second medical complex – the Medical Pavilion – was begun on the Creasy Lane property.
Construction began for the Faith, Hope and Love Cancer Center.
The Ortho/Surgical and Imaging Center facilities opened and Healthcare Specialists became Unity Healthcare.
Physician practices occupied the Medical Pavilion and marked a turning point for the medical campus.
Groundbreaking for the Immediate Care Center and ROCC facilities was held. Construction was completed and both centers were occupied by the summer of 2004.
In order to more efficiently serve Tippecanoe County’s growing healthcare needs, Greater Lafayette Health Services (now St. Elizabeth Regional Health) and Unity Healthcare broadened their long-standing patient care relationship through joint ownership of three medical centers – Unity Surgical Center, InnerVision, and Faith Hope and Love Cancer Center.
The Unity Surgical Center expanded, adding one procedure room and two operating rooms.
