Foot screenings and free skin cancer to be performed by Dr. Nick Costidakis (Family Foot Clinic) and Dr. Mark Lake (Lake Dermatology). This free community event will be held Wednesday, May 25 from 8 am to 12 pm at 15 Executive Drive Suite 4, Lafayette, Indiana. Space is limited; appointments will be required and can be made by calling 765-838-3428.
About the Foot Screening:
Dr. Nick will perform a thorough screening of the whole foot. He will then recommend a plan of treatment, if applicable. If you are currently experiencing any problems with your feet you are encouraged to attend this FREE screening. Please note that the FREE screening applies to new patients only. All follow up x-rays, labs, rehabilitation and other services are NOT included in the freefoot screening.
He will also give tips to help avoid flip-flop fiascos and provide suggestions for fashionable, yet sensible summer footwear.
Nearly 30 percent of people with diabetes and who are 40 years or older have impaired sensation in the feet. Preventative, comprehensive foot care can help reduce the risk of amputation.
Dr. Nick Costidakis is a Unity Healthcare partner. Family Foot Clinic is located at 975 Mezzanine Dr, Suite B. Dr. Nick also has satellite offices in Williamsport. For more information visit www.drnicksfootclinic.com.
About the Skin Screening:
This free screening
is part of a national campaign to encourage early detection and teach
prevention of skin cancer. More than 2 million new cases of skin cancer will be
diagnosed in the United States this year.
A survey commissioned by the Academy of Dermatology showed that fewer than one-third of Americans currently examine their skin for signs of melanoma and more than half don’t know the signs of melanoma. Dermatologists want to change this because when treated in its earliest stages, melanoma can be cured. If not treated early, the disease can quickly spread to other parts of the body and can be fatal.
“The key to the successful treatment of most types of cancer is early detection and treatment,” Dr. Mark Lake said. Current estimates are that 1 in 4 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.
Dr. Mark Lake, Lake Dermatology, is located at 15 Executive Drive Suite 4. Dr. Lake also has satellite offices in Monticello. For more information visit www.lakedermatology.com.
