Indiana’s First Spine Center Expands Into Rensselaer

Experienced Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Now Accessible at Jasper Hospital

Residents of Rensselaer and its surrounding communities throughout Jasper County will now have more convenient access to highly qualified spinal care services with the arrival of Indiana Spine Center's Dr. Mario Brkaric.

Brkaric is one of two board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeons who operate out of the Lafayette-based Indiana Spine Center-the state's very first, fully comprehensive medical center, dedicated specifically and entirely to the neck and spine. He'll be available through the Outpatient Services Department at Jasper County Hospital every other Friday.

Together, with his partner, Dr. John Gorup, Brkaric and the Indiana Spine Center have conducted nearly 15,000 successful spine consults, and serve as technical advisors to the area's only spinal biomechanics laboratory.

Brkaric completed his residency at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn, Downstate Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery of the spine at William Beaumont Hospital and was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

His areas of spinal care expertise include deformity, degenerative conditions, spinal trauma, minimally invasive technology, and dynamic- and motion-preserving technology.
