Unity Healthcare Orthopaedic Surgeons Inducted into Academy

John T. Bauman, MD and Mario Brkaric, MD were inducted as Fellows of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) on March 10, 2010, during ceremonies at the Academy's 2010 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

The Orthopaedic Surgeons were two of 667 new members inducted. The AAOS has 35,664 members worldwide. An orthopaedic surgeon is a physician with extensive training in the diagnosis and non-surgical as well as surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

John T. Bauman, MD is a board certified, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon. He completed his residency at Greenville Hospital System at Greenville, South Carolina. He then completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bauman is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Indiana Orthopedic Society. John T. Mario Brkaric, MD is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon. He completed his residency at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn, Downstate Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery of the spine at William Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Brkaric is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
