He joined the emergency room staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, then joined Arnett Health, working in Lafayette and Delphi. He began a family practice in Delphi in 1985, and had his office in Camden since 1990.
Dr. Anderson was a member of Hickory Grove Church, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Practitioners. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, making pottery, vegetable gardening, beekeeping, cooking and woodworking.
Surviving with his wife and mother are two daughters, Martha Long (husband: Dan) of West Lafayette and Lily A. Anderson, at home; two sons, Ben Anderson (wife: Amanda) of Erie, Pa., and Sam H.
