InnerVision West is the first imaging center in North Central Indiana to offer new state-of-the-art high definition magnetic resonance (HDMR) scans with the Signa® EXCITE 3.0T HD system from GE Healthcare. Employing sophisticated technology that has previously been confined to research facilities and major medical centers, the 3T MRI is setting the new standard in medical imaging. (InnerVision West opened in the fall of 2007.)
Tesla (T) is the unit of measurement quantifying the strength of a magnetic field. Prior to the 3 Tesla Machine, the high-field standard was 1.5 Tesla. Our scanner generates a magnetic field that is twice the strength of 1.5 Tesla machines and 10 to 15 times the strength of low field or opens MRI scanners. The magnetic field produced by our 3T MRI System yields exceptional anatomic detail. The increased image clarity revealed by 3T is particularly beneficial for pathological conditions involving the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system.

InnerVision West is able to offer its patients advanced capabilities and entirely new applications that are only available with HDMR, such as:
The 3T MRI is extremely efficient. Utilizing shorter scan times, the 3T machine maximizes patient comfort without compromising quality. The superb reliability of high-field MRI allows our board-certified radiologists to differentiate between benign and potentially risky medical conditions with confidence. Furthermore, the radiologists of InnerVision West will get unprecedented imaging speed and clarity with this new system - useful in cases where patients are difficult to image due to movement, including Parkinson's patients who suffer from uncontrollable patient motion and children who do not respond to sedation.
During a typical MR scan, a patient is asked to remain still for the exam. Even if a patient is cooperative their scans can be blurred with a slight movement, including a cough or sneeze. This motion can hide important details, make the doctor's job of diagnosing the situation more challenging, or require a re-scan - sometimes up to 25 percent of the time with conventional MR scanners. We know that we'll get superior images even in the most difficult cases, and that means better patient care for our patients.
