Lafayette Surgical Clinic

It is the goal of the surgeons at Lafayette Surgical Clinic to provide our patients with compassionate, state of the art care. All of our surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery; this means all of our surgeons have completed at least five years of training in surgery beyond their medical school years, and have taken and passed, or plan to take the Board examination in general surgery. Furthermore, in order to maintain Board certifications, our surgeons participate in ongoing continuing medical education, including "hands on" experience as well as academic seminars.

All surgeons are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons. This means that the surgeon's education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by the College.

We offer a wide variety of surgical services that include surgery of the abdomen and its contents including gallbladder surgery, surgery of the large bowel, small bowel, stomach, spleen, and diaphragm as well as hernia repairs. Surgery of the blood vessels including aneurysm surgery, carotid artery surgery, and bypass surgery in the leg are performed by our surgeons, as well as surgery for diseases of the lung. In conjunction with the St. Elizabeth Breast Center, a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for breast diseases, both benign and malignant, are offered.

As technology has advanced, we have continued to offer the latest techniques, including laparoscopic approaches to many surgeries which were previously performed only with large open incisions.

Our surgeons provide services not only at the Unity Surgical Center, but also at both local hospitals in Lafayette as well as several outlying hospitals including White County Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent's Williamsport Hospital. Besides performing elective surgeries there is always a surgeon on call to the emergency departments at these hospitals as a consultant for emergent surgical problems as well as for trauma.

Our office staff has extensive experience in assisting our patients in working through their insurance claims. Each of our surgeons has as their assistant a certified surgical technician who has specialized training in assisting with the care of surgical patients both in the operating room as well as in the office.
