February 22, 2018, Lafayette, Indiana –Today at the YWCA, Unity Healthcare and Franciscan Health presented a check for $46,877.49 to the YWCA Greater Lafayette Women’s Cancer Program. The money was raised at the Annual Ultimate Pink Party hosted by Unity Healthcare and Franciscan Health. The event was held on October 20, 2017 at the Purdue Memorial Union in West Lafayette, Indiana. The YWCA Women’s Cancer Program will use the funds to provide low-cost or free screenings for breast and cervical cancers.

“The YWCA Women’s Cancer Program is a wonderful resource to our community. The Ultimate Pink Party committee is thrilled to be able to make this donation and to know that the YWCA Women’s Cancer Program will be able to serve even more women in need. We would like to thank all of our sponsors, vendors, participants, and especially, all of our hard working committee members and volunteers for making this year’s event so successful. We’re already looking forward to this year’s event on October 5th,” said Heather Wolf and Katelyn Hopman, Co-Chairs of the Ultimate Pink Party.

To date, the Ultimate Pink Party has donated more than $465,847.15 to the YWCA Women’s Cancer Program.

“We are grateful to receive this generous donation from the Ultimate Pink Party to help provide vital services to women in need. In 2017, the YWCA Women’s Cancer Program served 1,628 women. Of those women, 28 were diagnosed with breast cancer and 3 were diagnosed with cervical cancer,” said Barb Reif, YWCA Interim Executive Director.

This fundraiser benefits the YWCA Greater Lafayette Women’s Cancer Program. The YWCA Greater Lafayette Women’s Cancer Program strives to eliminate inequities in health care experienced by many women by removing barriers to access and promoting effective community-based outreach, education, and referrals to appropriate clinical services.

The program provides low-cost or free screenings for breast and cervical cancers, including mammograms, breast ultrasounds, biopsies, Pap tests, pelvic exams, and colposcopies. The program serves women in Tippecanoe County and 40 other Indiana counties: Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Fayette, Fountain, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Jasper, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Miami, Montgomery, Morgan, Newton, Owen, Parke, Pulaski, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Tipton, Union, Vermillion, Vigo, Warren, Wayne and White.

For 2018, we are expecting the attendance to be around 440 individuals consisting mostly of women from Tippecanoe and the surrounding counties. Our date is set for October 5, 2018 and will be held again at the Purdue Memorial Union. We are currently accepting applications for vendor sponsorships. We would like to invite all interested businesses, artists, and organizations to participate. The vendors will be able to showcase and see their products and promote their business or organization. Space is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
