Responsibilities
- Administration of chemotherapy agents, patient education, and coordination of care
- Assist in the administration of emergency medical attention
- Access venous ports
- Liaison between physician, patient, and ancillary providers
- Telephone triage, follow-up, and patient callbacks
- Develop policies and procedures for quality oncology patient care
- Maintain environmental needs in nursing areas
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
- Monitor and assess patient care
- Provide comfort to patients
- Follow the guidelines of HIPAA in maintaining patient confidentiality
Requirements & Skills
- License(s): Registered Nurse (RN) required
- Certification(s): Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred, ACLS preferred, BLS required
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience, med surg background a plus!
- Strong IV skills required
- Strong assessment skills & critical thinking required
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills required
- Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, must be able to multi-task
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of Allscripts/EMR preferred
- Chemotherapy administration preferred
