Lymphedema can be present at birth, but most often, it results due to damage to or dysfunction of the lymphatic system. Breast cancer treatment is the most common cause of lymphedema. Physical therapy may help reduce the swelling and discomfort.
Our program uses Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) to treat lymphedema in the upper and lower extremities, head, neck, or pelvis. CDT can be effective in improving lymphedema symptoms such as swelling and pain.
